When we began the Look Around Mississippi series back about 1990, it was as a 13-week summer news feature about laces of interest we have here. Our first fear was where in the world would we find 13 stories? Well, some 700-plus stories later, I can confidently report we have more leads today for fresh material than ever. The fact is, Mississippi is a rich mine full of gems in the rough waiting to be unearthed. And when we go looking around Mississippi, we usually come away with more than we thought we’d get. Our people are genuine, our history is significant, our contributions to culture are way more than you’d expect from a place no bigger than Mississippi. Just our music alone has defined Western Culture of the 21st Century considering Blues, Rock-N-Roll and Country all have origins in the state. And I won’t even mention our writers. So my job is a breeze. Just hop in the car and pick any destination and bring back a story on the first thing that interests me. And I know you find it interesting, too, because it is ALL about us.
